Coldest Night of the Year | Illinois Valley PADS
FEBRUARY 22, 2025
Thank you to everyone who participated in the second Coldest Night of the Year event alongside First UMC in Ottawa!
Together we raised $2,426 as of the 5 pm (ish) start on Saturday.
We were blessed to field 10 walkers and a large group for hospitality as the church opened our doors as an official rest stop and comfort station with heat, hot chocolate, and indoor plumbing.
The event invites participants to walk a mile in the cold to raise awareness of the harsh reality of homelessness in a unique opportunity to make a positive impact in our community.
Funds raised locally through the event support Illinois Valley (IV) PADS (LaSalle and Ottawa), who provide safe shelter, meals, and access to life changing services in the Illinois Valley area. As of event day, local organizations, teams, and individuals had raised nearly $23,000 for the Ottawa site. Nationwide the event exceeded its $1.5 million dollar goal.

Donation can still be made online for this year's event (until the end of March). All donations should be assigned to the walker you sponsor or to the church for the team.
Any questions, please see Carol Pearse or call the church.
