One of the distinctive features of the Methodist movement is our practical approach to theology. We regularly ask, "what kind of actions, what sort of people, what manner of societies, do the claims we make about God produce?"
To put it another way, "what demands for behavior, character, and relationships, does our faith make of us?"
In the Gospels, Jesus makes it clear that those who follow him - his disciples - will do the things that he does, bringing healing, feeding, release to those in captivity, justice mercy, reconciliation, and so on, not only in spiritual, metaphysical ways for eternity, but in real practical ways that improve people's lives in the here and now.
